My wait disappeared

Waits shorter than fifteen seconds are discarded on purpose. A control or complication that lives one tap away gets pressed by accident, and a pocketful of four second waits would make the record worthless. If you need a very short wait on the record, start it and let it run past fifteen seconds before stopping.

I forgot to stop a wait

Any wait still running after eight hours is treated as forgotten. Next time you open the app it will ask whether to keep the full time, trim it to what it really was, or discard it. Nothing is decided for you.

I forgot to start one

Record it whenever you remember, then open History, tap the wait, and correct its start and end. The editor will not let you save a wait that ends before it starts or one that happens in the future.

How do I name who I waited on?

Tap the Unattributed row at the top of the Ledger on the Home tab. Type a name to create one, or pick from the list of counterparties you have named before. You can also reach it from any wait in History.

Naming is always optional. Unnamed waits still count toward your total.

Can I add a counterparty without a wait?

No, and that is deliberate. A counterparty with no waits attached is an empty row in a ledger about who costs you time. They come into being the first time you name one.

What happens if I delete a counterparty?

The waits themselves are kept. They return to unattributed, and you can name them again later. The wait happened whether or not the record of who it was survives.

Adding the Control Center control

Swipe down from the top right corner, tap the plus at the top left, then Add a Control, and search for Waiting. Once placed, it starts and stops a wait without opening the app.

The Apple Watch app

The watch records on its own, whether or not your phone is nearby. When the two are back in range, completed waits are handed over automatically. Until then the watch shows how many are still waiting to send.

Add the complication from your watch face editor, or use the card in the Smart Stack to start and stop without opening anything.

Stopping a wait from the Live Activity

The Live Activity on the lock screen shows a wait in progress but does not stop it. Use the Control Center control or the app. This is a limitation we intend to remove.

Getting your data out

Settings, then Export as JSON. You get a plain text file with every wait and every counterparty, dates in a standard format, readable without this app.

Does it sync between devices?

Not in this version, apart from the watch handing waits to its paired phone. Everything lives on the one device.
